Visitor Program

Mended Hearts Volunteer Visitor Program
Serving as a volunteer visitor for Mended Hearts is a rewarding opportunity to support cardiac patients during their recovery. Accredited volunteers, trained according to hospital and organizational standards—including HIPAA compliance—provide encouragement and share personal experiences to help alleviate patient concerns. While not medical professionals, volunteers offer valuable emotional support and hope, demonstrating that a fulfilling life is possible after a heart event.
The visitor team has been active at Providence Saint Peter Hospital since the early 1990s, offering both in-person and phone visits. To become a volunteer visitor, complete the online training available to members on the Mended Hearts website. For guidance on the training process, contact Diane Caputo, Visitor Coordinator, at 360-705-1271.
